Bottled water is regulated under the Food Act by the Food Quality and Safety Division of Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), who demand suppliers use an “approved source”, that has been inspected and the water sampled, analyzed, and found to be of a safe and sanitary quality according to applicable laws and regulations of state and local government agencies having jurisdiction.
Licensed Bottled water manufacturers must ensure that their products are regularly sent for analysis. Production area and the workers must meet the requirements of the standard by MOH. As with any food establishment, the MOH perform unannounced plant inspections while state authorities perform regular inspections.
